Are you an eagle or a pigeon?

Therese Tarlinton | Brand Ambassador & Mentor

A few months ago I hosted a webinar with Inspiring Rare Birds and was astounded by the hundreds of accomplished women that attended. One of them was Oksana. Of course, the world is a small place and we realised after connecting on Linkedin we knew many people in common. In business, we usually connect with others this way for a professional conversation and that’s how it started for us. However, after a few typed conversations, we decided to Zoom and there was an instant connection. Oksana is very skilled at her craft, highly intelligent but her ability to tell a great story had me hooked. An hour flew by, and mostly I was in stitches laughing. The story I will never forget was her discussing how she was an eagle, not a pigeon. She took an aerial perspective to life and wanted to be with others who flew high in the sky, seeking abundance and being generous. Oksana believes there is enough success for everybody to win. Eagles command their space and you feel their confidence and presence in a room. The pigeons are the type who all fly together, making noise and battling for the breadcrumbs on the ground. You can’t tell one from the next. She told me as an eagle herself, she could spot I was an eagle too. Now by the way, if you have to ask if you’re an eagle, then you aren’t. What is the best professional compliment you’ve ever had?
