Who was your first Podcast crush?

Therese Tarlinton | Brand Ambassador & Mentor

Hello, my name is Therese and I’m a podcast junkie.

It started in 2015 when I was ironing the school uniforms, hating every second, and becoming more grumpy by the second.  I would then become a bear for the rest of the day.  I had to find a way of getting through this.

I discovered Timbo Reid and his Small Business Big Marketing podcast and it changed my life.  Hearing the stories of small businesses and how they were navigating to success with a marketing lens captivated and transported me from the ironing board to the world of possibilities.

Every mundane boring chore I had to do from school lunches, walking the dog, sitting on the sidelines at soccer training to the grocery shopping had now taken on a new perspective.  I could learn, be inspired and I felt like I’d found my tribe.  I almost looked for boring stuff to do, just so I’d have more time to listen to Tim.

He was my first podcast crush.

Of course, from there I found sister love with Mia Freedom on No Filter.  I couldn’t get enough of the way she spoke with such empathy but was insatiably curious.  She was asking questions that were intimate and personal, and her guests would answer in a raw and honest way, and I almost felt like Mia was holding their hand and getting hot tea for them.

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t listen to multiple podcasts.  It provides the escapism I need along with the learning I enjoy.
