What is product placement?

Introduction:

What is product placement?  Sometimes called brand integration is about brands investing product versus cash to get your product used within shows and content.

A lot of consumers and brand marketers think everything is sold and paid for on screen but there’s a reason product is used in TV and film and it’s a practical one.  It saves productions a lot of money and allows them to produce better content when they have that cost saving and can direct the money into the production.

As a viewer when you watch the show, you’re pulled out of reality when you see a label covered.  No one wants to have a brand shoved down their throat but when it’s done organically, it benefits the production and the viewer.  This allows the content that’s created to be BETTER as dollars are redirected into the creation of the content versus paying for cars, wardrobe, props and all the other things.
